Enterprise Start-up of the Year
No industry in history has been as innovative as IT, and the pace of innovation has never been quicker. This category is for the best and brightest innovators, the companies that are re-imagining how business should be conducted, and whose products will change our working lives in years to come.
SaaS Product of the Year
Software as a service (SaaS) has become a common delivery model for many business applications, including accounting, collaboration, CRM, ERP, invoicing, HR management, content management and service desk management. This category is for new SaaS products that push the boundaries of functionality and usability, allowing enterprise users to easily access vital corporate information from anywhere, on any device.
IaaS/PaaS Product of the Year
Infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS) allow IT directors to outsource management of their IT systems, allowing them to focus on business innovation rather than keeping the lights on, and providing flexible capacity for periods of high demand. This category is for IaaS and PaaS cloud providers that supply these resources on-demand from their large pools installed in data centres, as well as the products that underpin these services.
Enterprise Software Product of the Year (including mobile apps)
The best new application or upgrade for core business systems, enabling IT departments to work more efficiently, gain more business insight or drive innovation. This could include CRM, ERP, business intelligence, database, enterprise asset management, content management or performance monitoring products, as well as personal productivity tools from office suites to widgets, delivered in-house or in a hybrid deployment.
Networking Product of the Year
With data growth posing one of the most significant challenges for organisations today, there has never been a more urgent need for powerful, robust, cost-effective networks. From routers and switches to WiFi controllers and small cells, this category is for the hardware and software products that are enabling the cloud and mobile revolutions that are sweeping the industry, and laying the groundwork for the Internet of Things.
Security Product of the Year
The security arms race is intensifying, with IT professionals struggling to cope with increasingly targeted attacks, new challenges posed by the proliferation of personal devices and the perennial issue of integrating security into business initiatives and into technology. This category showcases the best new hardware and software products – from firewalls and security suites to monitoring and management products, and content filtering and compliance assessment to disaster recovery and back-up solutions.
Mobile (hardware) Product of the Year
The consumerisation of IT is seeing a flood of new devices enter the enterprise, from smartphones and tablets to ruggedised laptops and ultrabooks. This category is for the gadgets that succeed in appealing to end users, providing the functionality and usability they need, while meeting the security requirements of enterprise IT departments, enabling organisations to implement bring-your-own-device policies and flexible working schemes.
Storage/Big Data Product of the Year
With data volumes continuing to grow exponentially and Big Data – near real-time analytics of corporate information – promising significant business advantages, the pressure for storage innovation has never been greater. This category will highlight the best storage products, from SANs and SSDs to management software.
Virtualisation Product of the Year
Data centre consolidation, cloud computing, energy-efficient IT and other innovation could not happen without virtualisation. The next generation of virtualisation promises equally significant change to the way IT is delivered. This category will showcase the best of a new wave of virtualisation products, from new hypervisors and virtual appliances to management software, regardless of whether they support server, desktop, network, storage or even mobile virtualisation.
Enterprise Software Project of the Year
From Big Data and business intelligence projects to ERP and CRM upgrades, this category is for the IT teams that have improved the lives of their co-workers, increased productivity and/or reduced costs by cutting out costly and time-consuming applications and implementing software systems that enable employees to work better together and get the job done.
Mobile Project of the Year
Bring your own device (BYOD) and the consumerisation of IT have given new impetus to the already powerful drive to free staff from being tied to physical workspaces. Mobile technology is changing the way we live and work, and this category is for organisations that have delivered innovative mobile projects that demonstrate clear business benefits.
Cloud Project of the Year
Cloud computing offers rapid time-to-value and a shift from Capex to Opex, but successful cloud deployments also require careful governance, security and cost management. This category is for organisations that can demonstrate both business benefits from and managerial control of their cloud operations.
Networking Project of the Year
Businesses are become increasingly mobile, and the need for remote access to sensitive corporate information is growing, but at the same massive strain is being put on existing network infrastructure. This category is for IT teams that, through use of hardware solutions and/or network management tools, have managed to solve this critical issue for their organisations.
Data Centre Project of the Year
The data centre is the heart of any corporate IT system, but many still run on legacy infrastructure that no longer supports the needs of today's businesses. This category is for organisations that have augmented their existing facilities or built new ones that not only meet today's requirements but also future-proof the business.
